PART 2: Description and Outcomes

 

Course Description (3 Credit Hours):

This course provides a comprehensive overview of curriculum orientations and paradigms, theoretical traditions, and emerging complexities within the field of curriculum studies. It is designed to develop the theoretical knowledge, competencies, and strategies needed by teachers and other curriculum developers at all levels of education to participate in the curriculum change process.

Student Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of the course, students are expected to be able to:

  1. (Remember) Identify primary and secondary historical sources considering the historical contexts. 
  2. (Analyze) Examine philosophical, historical, sociological, psychological, and political curriculum perspectives
  3. (Analyze) Analyze the relationship among the four main components of instruction – curriculum, teacher, students, and context.

Attendance Policy:

Active, weekly participation is required as a minimum standard to register attendance in an online or hybrid course. Additionally, Zooming into courses because of personal life happenstances is not an option. After two missed face-to-face class meetings, an attendance flag will be raised in Starfish.
